What is Coaching

ICF defines coaching as partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential.

The process of coaching often unlocks previously untapped sources of imagination, productivity and leadership.

We all have goals we want to reach, challenges we’re striving to overcome and times when we feel stuck.

Partnering with a coach can change your life, setting you on a path to greater personal and professional fulfillment.

Why Coaching?

Coaching is a powerful, active and positive process where the client (coachee) works together with their coach, taking control of their growth, development and moving forward with the use of tools that are designed for setting action plans and strategies for achieving goals.

In contrast with any other type of such service, the coachee is leading the process with the support of the coach who with the use of powerful questions, reflecting and exercises helps the coachee reach their goals.

Coaching is not about training, consulting or psychotherapy and it works well for mentally healthy people whose target is to move to new chapters in their lives, develop new skills and reach their goals and potential.

Professional Coaching

Coaching does not only work well on a personal basis but also on a professional basis in a corporate environment.

Businesses now prefer more employee and development friendly approaches for management and development, and coaching is becoming more and more popular as a mechanism for an organization to help their management and employees to reach their full potential, increase their performance levels and grow within their organizations.

ICF Core Competencies

The ICF Core Competencies were developed to support greater understanding about the skills and approaches used within today’s coaching profession as defined by ICF. These competencies and the ICF definition of coaching serve as the foundation of the Credential process, including the ICF Credentialing Exam. You can see these here.
